Itinerary

Oct 20 Day 1 Depart for Zurich, Switzerland.

Oct 21 Day 2 Arrive in Zurich. After arrival, transfer directly to Lucerne. Enjoy an afternoon walking tour of Lucerne’s old town, see the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), the Jesuit Church, and the Lion Monument. Mass. Dinner and overnight in the Lucerne area.

Oct 22 Day 3 Today we travel to Altotting, Germany. Upon arrival, we’ll celebrate Mass at the center of the pilgrimage complex, the Chapel of Mercy. The chapel houses a 13th century statue of the Blessed Virgin to which numerous miraculous cures are credited. While there, we visit the Basilica and St. Konrad’s Monastery. Dinner and overnight in the Allotting area.

Oct 23 Day 4 Travel to Salzburg, the lovely birthplace of Mozart, Salzburg the city of great houses, mansions, Festival Hall, and the Mirabelle Gardens. Hear the bells of the great Glockenspiel Tower, performed to a melody of Mozart’s. Salzburg is compact and best explored on foot. Narrow, winding lanes and secluded passageways are evidence of its medieval roots. The heritage of the Catholic Church is evident in the Archbishop’s Residence and the decoration of the State Rooms, available for viewing. Visit the mighty Romanesque Cathedral, the Nonnberg Convent of Benedictine nuns, and the Fortress Hohensalzburg. We stop at Hellbrunn Palace for its gardens and hidden trick fountains. Dinner and overnight in Linz area.

Oct 24 Day 5 Today we travel to Prague. We start our tour with the Castle District where we tour built in 14th century gothic St. Vitus Cathedral, St. George Basilica and Golden Way, picturesque street lined with tiny, colourful houses. These houses were built into the castle’s fortifications around the end of the 16th century. Mass in one of Prague’s churches. Dinner and overnight in Prague.

Oct 25 Day 6 We celebrate Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Victory and see the renowned statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague. After mass we continue our tour to Lesser Town – we see St. Nicholas Church and we cross the medieval Charles Bridge. We See landmarks of Prague’s Old Town – the elegant tower of the Town Hall with the world-famous astronomical clock. Some free time in the afternoon for shopping. Continue to Brno. Dinner and overnight in Brno.

Oct 26 Day 7 Morning, short city tour and mass at Brno Cathedral, then continue to Czestochowa to visit Shrine of “The Black Madonna”, the most venerated shrine in Poland. Dinner and overnight in Czestochowa.

Oct 27 Day 8 After breakfast, travel to Auschwitz, where we visit the notorious Nazi Concentration camp. We will see the cell that imprisoned St Maximilian Kolbe and the Martyrdom Museum recalling the horrors of the Holocaust and martyrdom of St. Edith Stein. In the afternoon we visit Lagiewniki for the “Divine Mercy Shrine”. It is here that the message of Divine Mercy originated, which Christ himself wished to pass on to our Generation, through meditation of Sister Faustyna. Here we celebrate mass and visit the convent of St. Faustyna, her tomb and relics. Dinner and overnight in Krakow.

Oct 28 Day 9 Morning, we explore Krakow, the ancient capital of Poland. We visit the Market Place, St. Mary’s Church, where you may pray before the extraordinary Wit Stwosz altar. The surroundings of the square have remained unchanged for almost 700 years and contain buildings of historic value such as the Town Hall Tower, the Cloth Hall and the Wawel Castle. After lunch, visit the famous Salt Mines of Wieliczka, a splendid 3-mile long underground complex of chambers, chapels and statues sculpted from salt. Dinner and overnight in Krakow.

Oct 29 Day 10 After breakfast, travel to Budapest. En route stop in Košice, the second largest city in Slovakia known for history and beautiful architecture, where we will visit Kosice Cathedral. Continue to Budapest for dinner and overnight.

Oct 30 Day 11 Full day in Budapest, often compared with Paris, this glamorous city has something to offer every visitor. We will tour the older section of the city in the afternoon. After celebrating Mass at the 13th-century Cathedral of St. Matthew, we will see the Citadel on Mount Gellert. Afternoon, enjoy our walking tour in the city and photo stop (from outside) at the Royal Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, the Parliament, Heroes’ Square, and visit the Church of St. Stephen. Dinner and overnight in Budapest.

Oct 31 Day 12 This morning, we visit Melk Abbey. The Baroque style structure is surrounded by a gorgeous town with Renaissance homes and winding streets reminiscent of the Middle Ages. The Abbey is the setting for Umberto Eco’s ‘The Name of the Rose’. Among the treasures housed here are paintings, sculptures, and decorative art from the 9th to 15th centuries. A magnificent library contains over 2,000 volumes from that era. A brilliant organ and skeletons dressed in luxurious costumes kept in glass coffins are among the other things to see here. Here we celebrate Mass. Continue to Vienna for dinner and overnight.

Nov 1 Day 13 Today, we will enjoy a sightseeing of Vienna, home of Strauss and Mozart and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Drive around the Ringtrasse and panorama tour on bus to see Hofburg Palace, the Capuchin Church, St. Charles Church, Belvedere Palace, the Vienna Opera, museums, the House of Parliament, City Hall, and the Burgtheater (make photo stops at land marks when possible). Also, we visit the spectacular St. Stephen’s cathedral, where we celebrate Mass (to be confirmed). At St. Stephen’s, we’ll see the miraculous image of Our Lady of Mariapocs. Some free time in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Vienna.

Nov 2 Day 14 This morning we are transfer to the airport for your flight home.

If cancellation is necessary, please advise QS Travel & Tours immediately in writing. Cancellation charges are as follows:

IF YOU CHANGE YOUR BOOKING:
A $25 administration charge will be applied for changes you make to your booking outside the 90 days to departure period. Please note name changes are not allowed and such will be treated as cancellations.

IF QS TRAVEL & TOURS CHANGES YOUR BOOKING:
QS Travel & Tours will advise you of any change we feel significantly alters the holiday which you have purchased from us. Occasionally, changes might occur close to departure time. In such cases, you will be notified as early as possible. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the local tour operator may have to make last minute changes in hotel or schedule. In case the standard of the accommodation is changed, QS Travel & Tours will offer the choice of a full and immediate refund or comparable alternate travel services acceptable to you.

UNUSED SERVICES:
No refund or adjustment can be made for any portion of holiday not used.

In the event of a change in our flight times, with or without notice, we cannot accept responsibility for any special connecting fares which you might purchase and which cannot be changed without penalty.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION:
A valid Canadian passport is required for all visits outside of Canada. It is the sole responsibility of the passenger to ensure proper and valid documentation. Failure to provide valid documentation may result in denied boarding of the aircraft and cancellation of your flight arrangements without refund. If you are holding a passport other than Canadian, please contact QS Travel & Tours to determine whether or not a visa is required for entry into the country you will be visiting.
