Jun 01 Departure to Frankfurt, Germany.
Jun 02 After arriving we enjoy a panoramic city tour before checking in at our hotel for dinner and overnight in Frankfurt area.
Jun 03 A morning drive takes us to St. Goarshausen where we embark on a relaxing Rhine cruise to the romantic Rhine Valley and arrive at Rudesheim , known for wine making and a part of Unesco World Heritage site of this region. We continue to Heidelberg for a walking tour of this famous university city. After Mass we return back to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Jun 04 After breakfast we continue with our drive south through the elegant city of Baden-Baden, famous for its spa and casino. Next we will visit the heart of the stunning Black Forest, a region famous for its artisans who create authentic cuckoo clocks and wood carvings. After Mass we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Jun 05 Today we are spending our time visiting Southern Bavaria and the largest lake of western Europe: Lake Constance, 63 km long that borders Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Mass, dinner and overnight.
Jun 06 After breakfast, we are going to visit King Ludwig’s II of Bavaria fairy tale castle in Neuschwanstein which was commissioned by him as a retreat and as an homage to composer Richard Wagner. Mass, dinner and overnight.
Jun 07 Morning departure to the beautiful scenic village of Oberammergau where we are going to attend the famous Passion Play. In 1634 the Black Death has decimated Europe’s population. Oberammergau remained untouched until a homesick villager returned one night, unknowingly bringing with him the dreaded plague. Almost one hundred villagers died as a result. Frightened survivors vowed that if God saved them from the plague, once every ten years they would re-enact the agony and crucifixion of Christ. From then on there were no further deaths from the plague. The villagers have fulfilled their pledge ever since. The play portrays The Passion of Christ – from the entry into Jerusalem to the Resurrection. Dinner and overnight.
Jun 08 After breakfast we are off to Austria and the city of Mozart – Salzburg, a Unesco World Heritage site since 1997. En route to Salzburg we visit the famous shrine Shrine of Our Lady of Altotting, national shrine of Bavaria dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mass, dinner and overnight.
Jun 09 After breakfast we enjoy a walking tour of Salzburg featured in the movie “ The Sound of Music “ and best known for being a birthplace of Mozart. We will admire the Domplatz, the baroque square dominated by its cathedral and overlooked by the fortress of Hohensalzburg. Some free time to stroll in the city centre and enjoy lunch in one of many cafes. After mass we continue to Einsiedeln.
Jun 10 Today we spend our day visiting the Shrine of Einsiedeln, a Benedictine Monastery established in the 10th century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Mass, dinner and overnight.
Jun 11 After breakfast we leave for Lausanne . En route we stop at Lucerne , situated on Lake Lucerne in central Switzerland and visited by the likes of Goethe, Queen Victoria and Wagner in the 19th century. We admire the covered medieval Chapel Bridge and the Old Town where we have some free time in the afternoon . Mass , dinner and overnight in Lausanne.
Jun 12 We spend the whole day in Lausanne. The setting of Lausanne is extremely picturesque, the town is built on three hills surrounded by vineyard covered slopes , with Lake Geneva at its feet. Lausanne has been a home to the International Olympic Committee since 1914. We finish our sightseeing tour with a steamship cruise on Lake Geneva. Mass, dinner and overnight.
Jun 13 This morning we depart to Geneva airport and fly back to Canada.
