Sep 1 Depart for Berlin.
Sep 2 Arrival in Berlin and start to exploring the German capital. Mass. Transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Sep 3 After breakfast, sightseeing tour including the remains of Berlin Wall, Music Hall, Victoria Monument, the Reichstag Building, Brandenburg Gate, Alexandra Square and World War II Park. Mass. Dinner and overnight in Berlin. Continue to Dresden for dinner and overnight.
Sep 4 After breakfast, tour the city of Dresden, capital of the state of Saxony, distinguished by the celebrated art museums and classic architecture of its reconstructed old town. Completed in 1743 and rebuilt after WWII, the baroque church Frauenkirche is famed for its grand dome. Mass. Continue to Prague for dinner and overnight.
Sep 5 Full day in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic. We start our tour of Prague with visiting the Castle district where we tour St. Vitus Cathedral and the Old Town by way of Golden Lane. Mass. Dinner and overnight in Prague.
Sep 6 Full day in Prague. We celebrate Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Victory and see the renowned statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague. Our walking tour takes us to the Lesser Town and the medieval Charles Bridge. We also see St. Nicholas Church and the Astronomic Clock. Dinner and overnight in Prague.
Sep 7 Today we travel to Salzburg, Austria, the lovely birthplace of Mozart, Salzburg the city of great houses, mansions, Festival Hall, and the Mirabelle Gardens. Hear the bells of the great Glockenspiel Tower, performed to a melody of Mozart’s. Mass, dinner and overnight in Salzburg.
Sep 8 After breakfast, our full day tour begins with Mass at St. Peter’s Churchyard. Salzburg is compact and best explored on foot. Narrow, winding lanes and secluded passageways are evidence of its medieval roots. The heritage of the Catholic Church is evident in the Archbishop’s Residence and the decoration of the State Rooms, available for viewing. Visit the mighty Romanesque Cathedral, the Nonnberg Convent of Benedictine nuns, and the Fortress Hohensalzburg. We stop at Hellbrunn Palace to enjoy its gardens and hidden trick fountains. Mass, dinner and overnight.
Sep 9 Today we leave Salzburg for Altotting, one of Germany’s most celebrated shrines. Upon arrival we’ll celebrate Mass at the center of the pilgrimage complex, the Chapel of Mercy. The chapel houses a 13th century statue of the Blessed Virgin to which numerous miraculous cures are credited. While there, we have the opportunity to visit the Basilica, the Panorama of the Crucifixion and St. Konrad’s Monastery. After lunch, continue to Munich. Upon arrival, we visit Marienplatz with its Old and New Town Halls and the gothic Frauenkirche. Dinner and overnight in Munich.
Sep 10 After breakfast, we are going to visit King Ludwig’s II of Bavaria fairy tale castle in Neuschwanstein which was commissioned by him as a retreat and as an homage to composer Richard Wagner. Return to Munich for mass, dinner and overnight.
Sep 11 Morning departure to the beautiful scenic village of Oberammergau where we are going to attend the famous Passion Play. In 1634 the Black Death has decimated Europe’s population. Oberammergau remained untouched until a homesick villager returned one night, unknowingly bringing with him the dreaded plague. Almost one hundred villagers died as a result. Frightened survivors vowed that if God saved them from the plague, once every ten years they would re-enact the agony and crucifixion of Christ. From then on there were no further deaths from the plague. The villagers have fulfilled their pledge ever since. The play portrays The Passion of Christ – from the entry into Jerusalem to the Resurrection. Dinner and overnight.
Sep 12 After breakfast, transfer to airport for return flight to Toronto
